Hello and Welcome to The Dirt!

NEWS NEWS NEWS! More and more, environmentally related news is making the headlines and into the mainstream consciousness.

This week, we thought it would be great to encourage you to help write "the dirt" on this! Share your great knowledge with the rest of our Spreading Roots, Spring Forth Portland Community. Write in and let us know what online news sources you use to keep informed of environmental events globally and at home. To get the ball rolling, here are a few sources you might find useful in the pursuit of environmental knowledge. To post your own additions you can do it in one of two ways:
1) Sign up for an account and log in to our Dirt website (see directions below). Once you do that, you should see the weekly introduction pop up on the Home page. Click on the link "November 4 - 13, 2005" and "add a comment" at the bottom.
OR
2) Send your online (or offline :) environmental news sources by email to laura @ spreadingroots.org and we will post them up for you (this might occur at a slightly slower rate than the other option however, given the volunteer nature of our very dedicated editor).

Cheers!
Enjoy this week's Dirt!

Best Bet Beth Says: Northwest Environment Watch

Subject: News web sites

Laura,

One of my favorite regional news web sites is Northwest Environment Watch which is the organization that features the Cascadia Scorecard. I really admire the quality of research and thought NEW puts out. I subscribe to their blog which means that I receive one e-mail a week with links to the current blog topics. I always find something valuable on it.
