Urban Wild: Soulfully Connecting People to Place Sacred City, Living Earth Workshop ***Ecopsychology is a new field, recognizing that human health cannot be separated from the health of the whole, and must include mutually enhancing relationships between humans and the non-human world. Ecopsychology attempts to bridge the gap between humanity and the earth, between ecology and psychology, to learn to see the needs of the person and the needs of the planet as interrelated and interdependent*** This four hour workshop explores old and new concepts of nature, relationship with place, watershed consiousness, and actions toward sustainable urban living. Using experiential tools from the field of Ecopsychology, we will open our senses to the world, discovering life sustaining connection with the Earth and new methods of effective activism. Through both individual and group activities, we create new understanings of relating to our sacred city and living earth.

Oregon vole forages for plants. Red tail hawk circles overhead hunting its prey. Oregon wildlife like vole and hawk need open habitats to find the food they need to survive. Help restore an oak savannah and learn about the animals that live there. Volunteers will plant native oak trees. Great activity for individuals, groups and families!

Woods Park is under going a transformation - new bridges, new boardwalks and improved trails. Now we need to protect Woods Creek at the bottom of the hill. We will be planting native shrubs along the banks of the creek. It will be muddy so if you have a pair of high rubber boots, please bring them. We have a limited amount to share with the volunteers. Here's how to get there from SW Barbur heading south. Turn right onto Capitol Hwy. Turn left onto SW Taylors Ferry Rd. Go a few blocks of SW 48th and turn right then in about a block look to your right and you will see a sign that says "Woods Memorial Park" turn right and follow the road into the park. See you there!!
