Join Urban Naturalist Mike Houck for a paddle around Ross Island, soon be the City of Portland’s newest natural area park.  The trip will cross the Willamette River and circumnavigate around Hardtack and East Islands, and downstream along the quiet Holgate Channel.  From there we’ll paddle into the Ross Island lagoon to look for Bald Eagles.  You are responsible for bringing and maintaining your own kayak/canoe.  Canoe and kayak rentals can be arranged through Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe (www.aldercreek.com, 503-285-0464) or Portland Kayak Company (www.portlandrivercompany.com, 503-459-4050).  Life jackets are absolutely required.  Directions and other details will be emailed to registrants.
