The first planting of the Friends of Trees 2006-07 planting season is at Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge on Sat., Oct., 14, and the first neighborhood planting in Portland is in the Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood on Nov. 11. Friends of Trees will host its first Fun Run for Restoration, a 5-mile run and 3.5-mile walk, on Sunday, Oct. 8th, beginning at Oaks Amusement Park, 7100 Oaks Park Way. Registration is at 8:30am., the run starts at 9am. The Fun Run for Restoration is sponsored by the Nike Factory Store.

Friends of Trees is expanding its core group of key volunteers by offering leadership trainings on Nov. 4 and 11. Local experts and Friends of Trees staff will educate volunteers about city trees, local ecosystems, proper tree planting techniques, plant accessorizing, and volunteer leadership. Trained crew leaders will guide other volunteers during weekend tree-plantings and restoration events between Nov. 2006 and March 2007.
4th Annual Down the River Clean Up on the Clackamas!
You are cordially invited to join us in a staggering amount of fun as we clean up the Clackamas River by boat flotilla.
Last year 240 volunteers helped us clean a staggering 2.7 tons of refuse after the busy sumer float season! We need you to help us clean a thirteen-mile stretch of the River, from Barton Park to Clackamette Park on Sunday, September 10th. The event will stage at Carver Boat Ramp at 9:30 am.
Bring your own kayak, raft, cataraft, canoe or dritftboat (BYOB), or if you don't have a boat you can sign up to be in a boat provided by event partners. How cool is that!? Volunteers will be treated to a free home grown barbecue, music and a silent auction of great outdoor gear afterwards.

Three Rivers Land Conservancy presents 2006 Wine and Land on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 from 3 – 6 p.m. being held at a private estate in Lake Oswego. In its fourth year, the benefit event will double in size to accommodate 500 guests and showcase the talents of 17 Oregon winemakers and 20 of Portland’s favorite chefs. Throughout the afternoon, guests visit wine and food stations and meet the chefs and winemakers while enjoying live music by Tall Jazz. Guests may also peruse auction items and tour the luxury estate complete with vineyard and wine cellar.
