Let’s Plant some trees in Lake Oswego!!
My name is Matt Weatherly, and it is the beginning of a new tree planting season.
November 4th, SOLV’s Team Up program at Carter Creek in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Working from 9:00 to 12:00 and all tools, gloves and supplies will be provided.
To register or for more information, please contact Matt Gordon at mattg@tryonfarm.org or call 503.245.3847.
Work-trade may be available.
We'll make breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks while working with participants on sample menus and recipe conversions, all in time for Thanksgiving meal planning! We will cover substitutions for "problem ingredients" (allergies & health), moral diets (vegan etc), and adapting recipes to use local ingredients. Transforming raw materials into delicious food is a kind of magic; transforming unusual ingredients into comfort food -- or spectacular treats -- is a fine art. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be included along with nutritional information.
Saturday, November 4th, Paddle Ross Island, Noon to 3 pm. Join Mike Houck on a leisurely afternoon paddle around the Ross Island complex. Soon, to be one of Portland’s newest natural area parks, once Ross Island Sand and Gravel transfers the islands to the city parks bureau, the islands when combined with the quiet backwaters of Holgate Channel and the adjacent 160-acre Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge will become one west coast’s most spectacular urban wildlife refuges. You are responsible for bringing and maintaining your own kayak/canoe. Canoe and kayak rentals can be arranged through Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe (www.aldercreek.com, 503-285-0464) or Portland Kayak Company (www.portlandrivercompany.com, 503-459-4050). Life jackets are absolutely required. Free.
