Watershed Stewards are a group of Clark County residents dedicated to improving the natural environment through education and environmental restoration. Stewards attend a free training, learning about a variety of watershed topics including plant life, salmon, stormwater and restoration and then commit to volunteering at least 40 hours back into the community. Join a great group of people to learn about the environment in Clark County and your part in improving it!

These volunteers will help facilitate and lead multi-sensory field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays from mid April to early June. Farm Naturalists will be asked to attend a volunteer training on April 1st from 9 am to 1:30 pm, and will ideally commit to leading at least two field trips during the spring.

Permaculture is, at its heart, a design system.  It is unique as a design system in that it includes a set of ethics; namely, care for the earth, care for people, and share your surplus (or "fair share").  By applying the principles of permaculture design, as guided by the ethics, you can discover ways to increase the sustainability of any system.

Join us Monday 3/17/08 for a return to our "roots" - a review and discussion of the basics of permaculture as set out in David Holmgren's book Permaculture - Principles & Pathways Beyond Sustainability.  We will review and discuss the 3 ethics and 12 principles, relating them to real-life design issues.

This is the perfect time to share clever design solutions you have discovered as well as pick up new ideas and inspiration.  Those newer to permaculture will get some great basic information, and experienced permies are encouraged to attend and share and learn too.  The more input, the more fun this discussion will be!

***Please note that reading the book is NOT required to participate in this meeting.
