Event information is found at the very bottom of the page. Plant Trees and help restore the Rinearson Creek watershed in Gladstone at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday March 22. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm. Rinearson Creek is spring-fed urban stream connected to the Willamette River. The riparian habitat is highly degraded because of invasive plants, erosion, development and stormwater as well as trash dumping. The creek is shaded by Douglas Fir and Western red cedar, so it has great potential for becoming a valuable wildlife habitat area and a clean source of cool water for the Willamette. Project partners include the Friends of Rinearson Creek, Willamette Riverkeeper, the Ivy Warriors, the Department of Environmental Quality, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, and Gladstone High School. outdoor Sunday March 23, 2008

The documentary, "The Power of Community – How Cuba Survived Peak Oil," was inspired when Faith Morgan and Pat Murphy took a trip to Cuba through Global Exchange in August, 2003. That year Pat had begun studying and speaking about worldwide peak oil production. In May Pat and Faith attended the second meeting of The Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas, a European group of oil geologists and scientists, which predicted that mankind was perilously close to having used up half of the world's oil resources. When they learned that Cuba underwent the loss of over half of its oil imports and survived, after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990, the couple wanted to see for themselves how Cuba had done this. Oregon Tilth’s Organic Education Center is currently recruiting ”Farm Naturalists“ for our Field School program at JEAN’s Urban Forest Farm in SE Portland. These volunteers will help facilitate and lead multi-sensory field trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays from mid April to early June.
