The Earth-friendly Garden Tour, offered in partnership with Clark County Solid Waste Program, is an opportunity for Clark County residents to be inspired by local gardeners who use natural gardening techniques. The ReBuilding Center of Our United Villages invites you to attend the grand unveiling of a community art sculpture called The Community Trees. Located in the Community Gathering Space on Mississippi Avenue, the three-story sculpture features cob tree trunks topped with branches and leaves crafted from reclaimed metal and household objects donated by community members.
David Johnson will speak on the Transition Town movement which was set up in the UK as a community response to the dual challenges of Peak Oil and Climate Change. From its small beginnings in Ireland in 2004, the Transtion Initiative has spread to include over 50 groups around Britiain and communities in Australia, New Zealand and America as people start to take responsibilty themselves for the challenges that we face.
