Midnight Thunderstorm

A midnight thunderstorm

wakes me up out of a light sleep

I was sleeping lightly

in my body

Love, your eyes. . .

smiling this weekend

as we moved through

friendships and visits

triggering memories

calling us to step into new ones

Something at the back of my throat

scratches at the door

waiting for it to open

sleeping lightly in my body

I awaken

the rain pouring dripping falling

swirling water from drops

the sky rumbles

how exciting

may iit water my small bee flowers

alyssum bee balm their fragrance greets me

and I acknowledge the gift I hope to give to

my neighbors the bees living in the eaves of the house

rain patter lessening

I can hear the storm moving off

from its throne seated in the sky this night

it travels on to pour its blessings

elsewhere

I am left here

tapping my toes on the floor

tapping my fingers typing the remnants

filaments of aliveness

weaving a harmony hoping poem to my unborn child
