Portland ranks as the most sustainable city in the United States. Residents of cities like Portland consider the physical, natural, and economic aspects of sustainability on a regular basis. However, the psychological aspects of sustainability and ecological degradation are often neglected. Psychology-Ecology-Sustainability, a discussion-based conference, will be held in Portland on June 8-10 to explore the critical intersection between (1) psychology and mental health and (2) ecological degradation and consumer culture. The conference will draw on the work of pioneers in Ecopsychology, Conservation Psychology, and Environmental Psychology, some of whom have been working in their respective field for over 20 years. The conference is open to anyone interested in mental health, psychology, sustainability, or ecology.
