Genesis McKiernan-Allen, Outreach and Education Assistant The ReBuilding Center of Our United Villages invites you to attend the grand unveiling of a community art sculpture called The Community Trees. Located in the Community Gathering Space on Mississippi Avenue, the three-story sculpture features cob tree trunks topped with branches and leaves crafted from reclaimed metal and household objects donated by community members. WHAT: Community Trees Unveiling and Celebration WHEN: Wednesday, July 9, 2008. WHERE: The ReBuilding Center COST: Free The program features brief words from tree branch sculptor Mike Suri of Suri Iron, stories of the objects they donated from community members, and a performance by Afro-pop artist Loveness Wesa. Light refreshments also provided. Please join us to celebrate the completion of this wonderful community sculpture. About The ReBuilding Center: The ReBuilding Center, a project of Our United Villages, is vibrant resource working to strengthen the environmental, economic, and social fabric of local communities. Founded by volunteers in 1998, The ReBuilding Center has grown to become the nation’s largest non-profit reuse center for salvaged construction and remodeling materials. Open to the public seven days per week, The ReBuilding Center accepts donations of reusable building materials and sells them to the community at 50-90% off retail value.
