Plant Trees and help restore the Goat Island watershed in Gladstone at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday, October 18th. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm.
Goat Island is a 22 acre site along the lower Clackamas River. The island side-channels are used by juvenile fish during the rainy season the trees are used by native birds. This area of the Lower Clackamas watershed is dominated by large Black cottonwood trees, but English ivy is suffocating much of the island, including many of the cottonwood trees. Project partners include Water Environment Services of Clackamas County, Clackamas County Forest Program, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy/Portland General Electric, Metro – Nature in the Neighborhood, and the Clackamas River Basin Council.
