Plant Trees and help restore the Tryon Creek watershed in SW Portland at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday, October 18th. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm.

This Tryon Creek site is located adjacent to the Rizwan Mosque which is along Falling Creek in the Tryon watershed. The site includes both sides of the creek and is about 1 acre. Development in the neighborhood has led to increased volume of storm water in the stream channel. Members of the Mosque have removed invasive Himalayan blackberry from the riparian area, and volunteers will replant the area with native trees and shrubs. Project partners include the City of Portland- Bureau of Environmental Services, Friends of Tryon Creek State Park, the Tryon Creek Watershed Council and Metro’s Nature in the Neighborhood program.

For more information and to register visit the Team up For Watershed Health Website, http://www.solv.org/programs/teamup_watershed_health.asp or call Brett Lyon at 503-844-9571 x 332. Event information is found at the very bottom of the page. Put on your boots, grab a shovel, and come dig in! We hope to see you out in your watershed!
