Plant Trees and help restore the Rinearson Creek watershed in Gladstone at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday, October 25th. By planting native trees and shrubs in this area volunteers will be creating habitat for future generations of birds, small mammals, and fish. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm.
Rinearson Creek is spring-fed urban stream connected to the Willamette River. The riparian habitat is highly degraded because of invasive plants, erosion, development and stormwater as well as trash dumping. The creek is shaded by Douglas Fir and Western red cedar, so it has great potential for becoming a valuable wildlife habitat area and a clean source of cool water for the Willamette. Project partners include the Friends of Rinearson Creek, Willamette Riverkeeper, the Ivy Warriors, the Department of Environmental Quality, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, and Gladstone High School.
