Plant Trees with SOLV in Clackamas on Sat Nov 1

Submitted by info@solv.org on October 10, 2008 - 1:54pm
Plant Trees and help restore Phillips Creek in Clackamas at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday November 1st, 2008. By planting native trees and shrubs in these areas volunteers will be creating habitat for future generations of birds, small mammals, and fish. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm. Phillips Creek is a classic urban stream in the Kellogg Creek watershed. The creek is surrounded by impervious surfaces due to extensive development which has lead to poor water quality. In working to plant native trees and shrubs side by side with mature Oregon Ash, Big Leaf Maple and Red Alder, water quality will improve. Volunteers will also work to remove trash and invasive species improving the area’s overall health. Partners include Water Environment Services of Clackamas County, Clackamas County Forest Program and U-Haul. For more information and to register visit the Team up For Watershed Health Website, http://www.solv.org/programs/teamup_watershed_health.asp.
