North Plains Tree Planting on Sat Nov 1Submitted by info@solv.org on Fri, 10/10/2008 - 13:01.
11/01/2008 - 09:00 11/01/2008 - 12:00 Plant Trees and help restore the McKay Creek watershed in North Plains at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday November 1st, 2008. By planting native trees and shrubs in these areas volunteers will be creating habitat for future generations of birds, small mammals, and fish. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm. Over the years, McKay Creek has been overrun with blackberry and reed canary grass degrading the overall health of the watershed. As part of this opportunity, volunteers will work to restore a functioning ash wetland on site by planting natives and wetland vegetation, which will improve water quality and decrease erosion. Project partners include Metro, Clean Water Services and Summit Foods. For more information and to register visit the Team up For Watershed Health Website, http://www.solv.org/programs/teamup_watershed_health.asp. Event information is found at the very bottom of the page. You can also contact Brett Lyon at brett@solv.org or 503-844-9571 x 332. Put on your boots, grab a shovel, and come dig in! We hope to see you out in your watershed! Location
