Tryon Creek Tree Planting with SOLV, Sat Nov 1Submitted by info@solv.org on Fri, 10/10/2008 - 13:04.
11/01/2008 - 09:01 11/01/2008 - 12:01 Plant Trees and help restore the Tryon Creek headwater in SW Portland at SOLV’s Team Up For Watershed Health sites on Saturday November 1st, 2008. By planting native trees and shrubs in these areas volunteers will be creating habitat for future generations of birds, small mammals, and fish. Plantings start at 9 am and end by 12 pm. This planting site is located near the headwaters of Tryon Creek and is about 0.5 acres. Both sides of the creek have been affected by recent development resulting in an increased volume of storm water. Himalayan Blackberry has also overrun the riparian area degrading the health of natural habitats. Volunteers will remove invasive shrubs and plant native vegetation to improve the areas natural function and mange storm water. For more information and to register visit the Team up For Watershed Health Website, http://www.solv.org/programs/teamup_watershed_health.asp. Event information is found at the very bottom of the page. You can also contact Brett Lyon at brett@solv.org or 503-844-9571 x 332. Put on your boots, grab a shovel, and come dig in! We hope to see you out in your watershed! Location
