Have you an interest in saving seed from the vegetables that grow well in your garden?

We have been saving seed from our North Portland garden for several years. We will share some of the basic information that will enable you begin to save seed from your garden. Saving seed is a fascinating and worthwhile process. Saving seed is a way to learn about plants, and develop plant varieties that will grow in your soil, and succeed with your style of gardening.

Not all seed is suitable to be saved. Knowing what to save and how to develop your seed supply is important for successful seed saving.

We will be sharing what we have tried, and how we utilize our seed for food, soil improvement, and cover crops. We started with no prior experience and now are proficient enough to have our own seed for many worthwhile plants.

If you have never saved seeds but would like to try, or simply want to share about what your experience has been please attend.

Seed saving is important and will help our community to develop a sustainable local food supply.

Part of the meeting time will be spent cleaning seeds we have collected this year from our garden.
