This is the first of a series of two forums to discuss the City of Portland and Multnomah County Draft Climate Action Plan (CAP).  Participants will choose one of seven CAP Core Action Area groups to work in:

  • Buildings and Energy
  • Land Use and Mobility
  • Consumption and Solid Waste
  • Urban Forestry
  • Food and Agriculture
  • Community Engagement
  • Climate Change Preparation (focusing on the social, health and safety impacts of climate change)

Each group will review and discuss the CAP’s proposed 2030 Objectives and 2012 Actions, considering whether the Actions are sufficient and whether important Objectives and/or Actions have been overlooked.

In the second forum, Wednesday, June 24 (same time and place), each group will finalize its recommendations and prepare comments to be sent to the City and County with the backing of a substantial constituency. Transition PDX will compile feedback from all groups and forward this input before the July 13 deadline.
The Climate Action Plan Forums will not include educational sessions about the issues.  Participants are encouraged to review the CAP draft in advance.

We hope you will be part of this vital public feedback process as we prepare our communities for a resilient low carbon future.
The City will also conduct several Town Hall Meetings to present the CAP, answer questions and gather comments; that schedule is here.  The  Transition PDX Forums provide a different kind of opportunity, namely for interested Portlanders to have an in-depth conversation about proposals in each of the Core Action Areas.

Transition PDX is a group committed to helping our community build resilience in the face of climate change, energy descent and the distressed economy.  For any questions about these events, please email us at cap@tpdx.net
