This will be a 5-part series for homeowners, gardeners and beginning designers that can be taken as separate classes or as a series:

1)    3/3 = Site Analysis/Developing Your Dream – we will cover how to asses your site and commit some basic elements to paper, determine you goals/needs/wants, and develop your aesthetic.

2)    3/10 = Year’round Beauty – we will focus on plants that provide interest through every season.

3)    3/17 = Lower Maintenance Landscaping – we will examine various techniques for keeping your gardening tasks to a minimum, so you can enjoy your garden.

4)    3/24 = Naturescaping and Landscaping with Native Plants – we will cover some of the most beautiful and available native plants, how to use them, and how to create habitat in your own yard.

5)    3/31 = Waterwise Landscaping – from raingardens to ecoroofs, we will learn about ways of using less water and keeping water on the landscape and out of the sewers.

Taught by professional landscape designer JJ Sweeney of Salamander Designs, classes will be held Wednesday evenings, 3/3-3/31, from 6:00-8:30 in her home in inner SE Portland, where she will use her own small urban landscape as an example of various plants and sustainable techniques.
