BeyonBeyond a Culture of Collapse, Revive the Village & Restore the Earth
When: May 21, 2010 7PM-8PM With a potluck at 6PM-9PM Location: 5040 SE Milwaukie Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97202 How: Free, no RSVP required
How do we move beyond this culture of collapse? How do we revive the Village and restore the Earth? It will take more than a school, more than a philosophy and more than a movement. Since TrackersNW was founded, its entire goal was to remake how an organization actually contributes to the local community and bio-region. Founder Tony Deis shares lessons learned during the organization's development. From the prospective of his lifelong study of tracking, Tony addresses how communities are infinitely more healthy when they are founded on the autonomy of the individual, family relationships and self-organization. He also covers how this mirroring of the natural world in our communities actually leads to a more sustainable village relationship with our environment. And for fun, we also outline Trackers's plans for world domination (tongue and cheek while also serious) to include oceanic shipping by 70-foot sailboats and plans for self-replicating eco villages that grow exponentially to acquire and care for land.
Trackers Storytelling Nights
Storytelling nights explore topics pertinent to Trackers and its community. There may be an author presenting their book, it may be a Trackers instructor covering a local topic. We do our best to dig deep. Addressing issues and ideas we may not be able to fully delve into in workshops or programs. You can also use these nights to learn more about our classes.
On the nights that it is noted each presentation is proceeded and followed by a Wild and Local Foods Potluck. So bring your chestnut soup, deer meat pie or nettle spanakopita. To see if this event is a good fit for you read our Boundaries and Needshttp://www.trackerspdx.com/community/storytelling-nights.php#boundaries
