Jeffrey Kaliel received his law degree from Yale Law School in 2005. Jeff has collaborated with NGOs including the Humane Society, Compassion Over Killing, and the National Consumers League to fight for the truth in the marketplace regarding food and animal products. Jeff has worked on difficult situations for more than ten years. While enrolled in the Department of Homeland Security’s Honors Program, he worked on the appellate litigation for the agency.

Jeff also helped with an examination into the DHS response to Hurricane Katrina in advance of a Congressional probe. Additionally, Jeff prosecuted offenses concerning borders while serving as a Special Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of California.

As a former Army Staff Sergeant, Jeff has experience in both airborne and mountain warfare. He is a veteran of the second Iraq War, having served there in 2003. Jeff holds licenses to practice law in all federal appellate and district courts, in addition to California and Washington, DC. Jeff and Debbie, together with their three kids, call Washington, D.C. home.

Voyeurism: What is it?

The unlawful act of secretly observing someone without their permission in a setting where they have a legitimate expectation of privacy, like a public restroom or house, or the use of a camera or other technology for such views.

The act of experiencing sexual excitement while witnessing another person undress, get nude, or engage in sexual activity is known as voyeurism. Acting on voyeuristic ideas or cravings and feeling disturbed or unable to function as a result are signs of voyeuristic disorder. 

Voyeurism is one form of paraphilia. Most people who have voyeuristic tendencies are not also affected by voyeuristic disorder.

Rather than including sexual intercourse with the subject of the observation, voyeurism entails merely observing (peeping). Observers do not engage in sexual activity with the people they are observing.

 When voyeurs watch innocent bystanders, they may encounter legal problems. In youth or the early years of adulthood, voyeurism usually begins. In one way or another, voyeurism is fairly common; it affects men and boys more than it does women.

The accusations against Jeff Kaliel, who was charged on Wednesday with voyeurism at Nationals Park, have been withdrawn. The police have previously stated that the 41-year-old (now 45) took video of a 16-year-old using the stadium restroom on his iPhone. 

Jeffrey Douglass Kaliel, 41, a resident of the Northwest, was arrested on July 31 on suspicion of secretly recording a young victim using the lavatory with his cell phone. The scene of the incident was close to Nationals Park, which is situated on the SE 1500 block of South Capitol Street. The Metropolitan Police arrested the man and charged him with voyeurism.
